Merve Ertufan, Side by Side, 2014, Podcast & Sound Installation

Side by Side is a project comprised of a podcast series and a sound installation based on selections from podcast recordings. Each recording brings together one moderator and two guests; one guest is working professionally in a specific field while the other works as an amateur in that same field. The fields which are the subject matter for the podcast are Culinary Arts, Visual Arts, Sports, Music, and Literature. Each segment showcases two different takes on the field in question - two methodologies, two working systems and most importantly, two manners in which an attribution manifests itself in the speaker. The sound installation, which is assembled using the podcast series as raw material, takes the dialogues out of context and focuses on the dynamics between the participants.
